Post subject:	RESOLVED: AB quits unexpectedly
This is on a Mac Pro, 1GB RAM, 10.4.8. The audiobook I'm attempting to convert has 40 MP3 files, all at 48 kbps, 44.1kHz. I open a new file, select 48 kbps, 44.1kHz, passthrough. I add the cover art, enter title and author, then drag the 40 files into AB. It thinks a while, then puts up each file inside its own chapter. I select all chapters and click Join. It joins them. I rename the chapter. I save. I click Finish. AB stops responding and pegs one of my four processors at 100%. It crashes/quits 30 seconds later. Any suggestions? Also, can I put in a request to make this app multithreaded or somehow multiprocessor aware? The best way to discover the cause of the crash would be to see the Project document in its entirety so we can watch the -[MONKAudioBook processDictionary] message as it executes. Would you help us by compressing the Project document and sending it over? If it compresses down to 100MB or less you can send it through http://yousendit.com . We've looked over the Project document here and tested it in Audiobook Builder on both PowerPC and Intel Macs, but we haven't seen the same behavior as on your Mac Pro. I forgot to get a key piece of info from you yesterday - your preferences file. That will help us better duplicate your environment there and hopefully get this crash to occur here so we can knock it out. Would you send your /Users/[your username here]/Library/Preferences/com.splasm.audiobookbuilder.plist file to support@splasm.com?

I sent the prefs file. I was thinking it might also be affected by the fact that mine is still the trial version. (I'm gonna pay for it, but I didn't want to pay until I knew it worked.)

To update everyone: We tested the Project document along with a fresh set of unregistered preferences and duplicated the issue. We then learned that the underlying cause was directly related to the Project Chapter/File layout, consisting of a single 18-hour Chapter, which is larger than the maximum Part length Audiobook Builder will process, with its first File around 30 minutes in length, which is longer than the 20 minutes allowed while the application is unregistered. Audiobook Builder would fail to properly set up its "processDictionary", instead entering an infinite loop that would ultimately result in greater than 1.75GB of RAM allocated to the application, leading subsequent memory allocations to fail and the application to crash unexpectedly. We adjusted the processDictionary code and the user has confirmed that the latest pre-release build of Audiobook Builder 1.0.2 resolved the issue. We'll have an official Audiobook Builder 1.0.2 release out later this week.
