First of all, I LOVE ABB and how it has allowed me feed my audiobook addiction through my iPod (which I'm relatively new to as well). I'm only into the "pure stuff" (UNabridged) so I rarely rip a book of fewer than 7 or 8 disks. I have been using the default import as a single file, rather than go through the extra work with indiviudal files (though I am doing one of those as we speak to see if I like it better).
My problem is this. According to the manual, every CD becomes its own "chapter" and when the book is output to iTunes/iPod, I'm supposed to "notice special controls" for quickly moving between these chapters." WHAT special controls? If I accidently lose my place, or bump my iPod against something and the book skips to the next "PART" (I usually end up with 2 or 3 Parts), the only way I've been able to find my place again is by holding down the right/FWD arrow (the bar shows no lines/breaks like books from audible have)....which is a tediously slow process when I have to go through a couple of CDs' worth of data. I see no obvious way to jump from one CD ("chapter") to the next, as the instructions suggest.
What am I doing wrong? I've read all the posts here (your support is fantastic), but could not find anyone else having this problem.
Thanksl And thank you for a WONDERFUL product!
Theresa

Okay, my son was home and showed me how to move more quickly through a book (pressing the middle button, then using the scroll wheel), so that solves the problem. But I would still like to know what I'm doing incorrectly that I'm not getting chapter stops at the end of each CD when I import a CD as one file.
Thanks!

Can you confirm that each CD you import is really in its own Chapter just before you build the final Audiobook?

For each CD you import Audiobook Builder will place the imported items, whether a single file or individual files, into a single Chapter. So, after you import each CD you should have a new Chapter item in your Project's Chapters section. For example, if you have eight Audiobook CDs to add to your Project, when you complete importing all CDs you should have eight Chapters in the Chapters section. If you build at that point, sync with your iPod, then play the output on your iPod - and assuming your maximum Part length is set so that all eight CDs will end up in a single Part - you should see seven chapter markers on the Audiobook's timeline. In your case it sounds like the maximum Part length is set somwhere in the two to three hour range, so Audiobook Builder has to segment the output into multiple Parts. Even so, it will probably fit at least two CDs per Part - so you should still see at least one chapter marker per output file on the iPod.

Thanks for the reply, Keith.

After I read your response, I checked ALL my results, and I've discovered that many of the books I've built DO indeed show the chapter markers. I am strongly suspecting "Operator Error", as the ones with no markers are the earliest ones I built. They are also the ones I'm listening to first, which is which prompted me to write for help, without having reviewed later-built books (I wasn't kidding about the addiction part!).

Your succinct description was very helpful to me, and I'm sure will keep me from making similar mistakes in the future.

Don't lose any sleep over it, but my husband is holding ABB to blame for the new 500 Gig hard drive that recently showed up on my desk. GREAT product!! And no more late fees at the library!
