Post subject:  iOS 5.1 Breaks Chapter Titles

After upgrading my iPhone to iOS 5.1, audiobooks processed by Audiobook Builder no longer display chapter titles in the Music app. Where I used to have this:

01 - Chapter Title 1
02 - Chapter Title 2
(and so on, showing the titles I used in Audiobook Builder)

I now see only this:

Chapter 1
Chapter 2
(and so on)

Is there something I can do in Audiobook Builder to get the chapter titles to display in the iOS 5.1 version of the Music app, or is this an Apple problem?

Yep, you have come across a bug on Apple's part. With the latest iOS update, both the iPad and iPhone will swap out your unique Chapter names for the generic ones that you are getting. This seems to be happening with all Audiobooks.

We will be letting Apple know immediately. So, hopefully they will get this issue cleared up fast with another iOS update.

Thanks Allan. I didn't see how it could be an Audiobook Builder issue, but thought I'd better ask.

Just updated to iOS 5.1.1 and see that this was not fixed by the update.

Yeah, unfortunately, Apple has yet to even acknowledge the bug...

As soon as iOS 5.1.1 was released, we saw that the generic Chapter names issue was not addressed, so we went and bumped our bug report up at Apple. Upon doing this, we ending up discovering that the ticket is still open and unassigned, meaning it’s not being addressed—at least for the time being. We’ll check in again in a couple of months and let you know if Apple’s had time to look into it!

We usually post updates about stuff like that on our blog (www.splasmata.com). So, check back on there every once in awhile for news about that particular issue.
