| Post subject: | Build process hangs |
I bought ABB about a month ago and sucessfully built 15 Audiobooks, from 1 hour stories to several 11 hour novels, to two multipart 12 hour+ novels. Alas, now the files import fine, but ABB always hangs up on the Build process. The progress bar doesn't even begin to turn blue. I have to Force Quit, and FQ always says "(not responding)". This happens consistantly now, about 10 times. What should I do? I looked for the .plist but couldn't find it. ABB version 1.0.7 Tiger 10.4.10 G4 PowerMac dual 450, 1.5G ram Bob |

Have you recently upgraded to QuickTime 7.2? We've found that QuickTime 7.2 takes roughly ten times longer to perform one key, and already lengthy, operation just before it joins MPEG-4 audio data into a single file - and Audiobook Builder relies heavily on QuickTime's ability to join MPEG-4 audio data, doing so several times during each build. Unfortunately, the part that's taking so long is also the only part of the process where QuickTime doesn't provide progress updates to Audiobook Builder, preventing it from accepting user input, leading to the spinning beach ball and messages that it's "not responding" in Mac OS X's Force Quit feature, the Dock and Activity Monitor. We've found that giving Audiobook Builder some extra time - actually a lot of extra time because you're using an older G4 - always works. Could you try that and see what happens? |

Well actually I have QT 7.2, 7.1.3, and 7.1.6. I'm pretty sure 7.2 is what gets used. I'll let it spin for 48 hours... Bob |

Well, two Audiobooks have compiled since yesterday. I guess the thing to do is to start them building and just forget about 'em for 12 or 24 hours... Thanks for the insight. Bob |
