I’m sure I have missed info in the manual, but I can’t seem to fix the problem of the file opening on the oldest entry at startup instead of today‘s date. Can someone help me to make it open with today‘s date in the entry list?
I now have to scroll all the way down from the year 1998 to get to today. It doesn’t take all that long but it is a step that I shouldn’t have to make. Simple I bet!

You could make smart folders for each year, so it would open on the year you last selected.
You could click on the date heading, which toggles ascending/descending
or, You could simply click on a current item before you quit, and the next time you open it, that item will be the last item on the opening page.

Thanks for that info.
Can you please define the difference between a Folder and a Smart Folder?

I find that CheckBook opens at the entry I had last selected when using it. So if I click on the last entry and then quit, it remembers that position and opens at that entry when the program is next run.

That may be my answer, because sometimes it does open on the last date, sometimes not.
I probably have the last entry highlighted at times and others I do not. I have been playing with prefs and accounts and might quit w/o clicking the last entry.
I will take extra notice of that from now on.

Still would like to know the difference in the folder and smart folder.

Folders actually store entries within them, which moves those entries from your main account to your folder.

Smart folders only reference existing entries without actually moving them. Think of a smart folder as a saved search. It will show all entries that match the criteria of the smart folder without actually moving them.

I hope that helps!
