Post subject:  How do I import when doing a split?

Hello.
I import my checking activity from my bank once a month and there is an entry for a credit card payment. I've been entering the splits for the credit card manually. Is there way to use t qif file from my credit card company and import the data in to the split? When I go to SPLIT, FILE, IMPORT, the qif, qfx and text are not clickable in the drop down menu.

It would save an enormous amount of time. I put just about everything on the credit card for convenience and because it is easier to keep track of. If this feature i not possible, I would like to put in a request. So many people are like me - and swipe a card for everything. That's when the credit and debit card splits become the largest import file of all with lots of entries.

Thanks in advance for your reply.

You're right, CheckBook Pro does not allow you to import data into the Split section of an Entry. That's something we can think about for the future.

One workaround for now would be to create a separate Account for your credit card and import your credit card statement QIF into that Account. Create the new Account by selecting 'New Account...' from the Account menu found at the top of the screen.

Then, to take care of the single Debit Entry line that shows up in your Checking Account from your bank statement import, just double-click on the line and then in the window that pops up, click on the small black arrow beside 'To' and change it to 'To Account.' Next select the newly created Credit Card Account from the list that pops up next to 'To Account'. This will link the Entry to your Credit Card Account.
