I'm from the old days, when you had to periodically save your work. I can't find this option, so I assume that the file I'm working with is automatically saved. Is this the case? Is there a backup autosaved file somewhere? Where is it? Thanks! |

Changes are indeed saved automatically. Also, data is backed-up automatically about once a week but the Backup location varies depending on the application and OS version in use. If you're on the latest versions of everything, you can find the Backups at /Users/[your User name here]/Library/Containers/com.splasm.checkbook2/Data/Library/Application Support/Splasm Software, Inc./CheckBook 2/Backups/. Keep in mind, though, that the third folder in, the User Library folder, is hidden on Lion or later so there are special techniques to get to it, which include going into the Finder and accessing the Go menu while holding down the Option key on the keyboard—this reveals a Library option. |

Okay, I goofed and double clicked an old file and now I can't find the latest auto-saved version. I can find the automatically created backups, but the latest one is missing some entries. How can I find the auto-saved version of my accounts from the last time I closed the program? Thank you! Tim |

Tim, The best way to get back to your main document after switching to another file is to use the Open Recent option. Since you've opened some Backups, there's a slight chance that the document you're looking for isn't still available under the recent items, but to try the option, go into the application, go up to click the File menu at the top of the screen, slide down to hover over 'Open Recent', and then choose from any files listed there. If you're unable to locate your up-to-date information, we can check your recent system logs to determine the location of all documents you've used lately and direct you to what you need. To gather the logs, open the application, go up to the Help menu while holding down the Option key on your keyboard, choose 'Go to System Logs folder', and then locate all items that have 'system.log' in the name. Those logs can all be sent to us at support@splasm.com and we should be able to get back to you via email with steps for bringing your data back up. |
