1) How to merge two checking accounts ?
I have entered about 100 credit card charges in a identically named account ( Chase...XXXX) as my main account (Case...XXXX) and would like to merge these accounts.

2) How to assign split tranaction expences each to its apprpriate catagory and have those expences properly displayed in a summary ?
When entering a split transaction assigning expences to different catagories, both expences are combined to one or the other catagory in a summary.

Thanks !

Unfortunately, there's no one-click way of merging two different Accounts. But, entries can easily be copied out of one Account to another, then you can delete the Account whose entries were copied. Just select the entries you wish to copy (presumably all of them, which can be done quickly by hitting Command-A), go up to click the Edit menu at the top of the screen, select the Copy menu option, then switch to the other Account, click once inside the register view area, and head back to the Edit menu to select the Paste option.

Also, just entering the right Category designation into the Category field for each individual split entry—and nowhere else—should help ensure everything's displayed properly in your Summaries. We'd really only expect a combined total to show for one split Category if you were to perhaps also enter the same Category designation as one of your splits into the main Category field, ie what's used for categorizing the parent entry. For example, if you create a new entry now, the first field you see labeled "Category" might be something you choose to leave empty, then you can click "Split" up top to begin entering your split lines, any time, later.

Dear Allan,

Thanks very much for your prompt reply !

1) Merge accounts seems simple enough.

2) Untangling my catagory issue may require more experimentation.

You guys are the best !
