Hello - we've just switched over to Checkbook Pro from Quicken on windows and we are learning how to use everything.

We've imported all our data from Quicken without any trouble.

One question I had was around entering new deposits/debits. In Quicken, we could enter a new transaction in the view that lists all transactions by typing in the fields that are shown. To save it, we hit enter and a new blank line was ready for a new transaction to be entered.

My wife (bless her heart!) enters all our transactions by typing them in, and we were wondering if there was a quicker way to create a new transaction without using the mouse to actually click the new deposit/debit buttons.

Can anyone share their thoughts or experiences with the fastest way to create a bunch of new transactions with the keyboard (preferably by tabbing through the fields)?

BTW - the search feature is very nice!

If you want a quick Keyboard shortcut to create a new entry, you can use the key combo of Command and - key for a debit and Command and = key for a deposit.

If you want access to more of the data fields with the keyboard, you can turn on full keyboard access in the Keyboard & Mouse preferences in System preferences. You can turn this on by clicking on Keyboard & Mouse in the System preferences, and then clicking on the Keyboard Shortcuts tab on the top right of the window. You should see a Full keyboard access section at the bottom of the window. By turning it to all controls, the tab key will interact with all of the buttons instead of just text fields.

Two questions before we purchase:

1. will there ever be direct entry into the table view; quick entry?

2. are you working on an iPad (not iPhone) or web-based version?

We want to leave quicken, please help us.

Thanks!

1. There is always a possibility, but we don't have any concrete plans on it's inclusion

2. The iPad and iPhone versions will be the same app, with optimizations finding their way for each device.

I would base your decision on how CheckBook could serve you now and not what CheckBook could be. Future versions, features, and the like are constantly changing and flowing. If you are waiting for the iPhone/iPad version, I would hold your purchase until it is released and you can see how it will work for you and not rely on what you think it may do for you. That way expectations are not piled up based on hopes and speculation. Thats the best advice I can give as a consumer myself.

Thanks for the questions!
