I've had lots of trouble when using a large MP3 file as the source file. When I hit Finish to begin the building stage, normally a new screen shows up with the name of the book and a button I can click to build. However, when the source file is a single large MP3 file (I'm not sure the exact size cutoff, but I've had trouble with anything over 700m or so), when I click finish, the program bombs, and I don't get a new screen that allows me to click on build audiobook. In fact, the new screen does not finish drawing, and then the program beachballs, finally quiting. Any suggestions on what to do? There are no unusual characters in the filename, and it appears to be a function of size, as when I start with a smaller MP3 file, or am joining a number of smaller Mp3 files together, I don't have any problems.

Right now, Audiobook Builder has trouble with any file over 12 hours long, which is our maximum part size. We do have a beta in the works that will allow part sizes with push the 32 bit limit of files to the maximum that QuickTime can handle which is 13 hours for 44 khz audio, 18 hours for 32 khz audio, and 27 hours for 22 khz audio. You can get files even longer if you reduce the sample rate even further.

Our Audiobook Builder 1.1 beta is in the 5th iteration, and is about to hit its 6th and go out to testers again. As soon as we cover all the current issues, it will be ready for release.

Our suggestion for now is to use another application to break these large files into under 12 hour parts such as QuickTime itself or you can use the start and stop times within iTunes to select an under 12 hour section and import those sections of tracks from itunes.
