Greetings,

I have noticed the little red notification indicator on checkbook in the dock. I have no idea what it’s for and can’t find how to clear it. Red notifications drive me nuts.

The red badge tells you the number of pending Scheduled Entries for all of the Accounts in the current document. You’ll see a similar badge over the left edge of the appropriate Account icons in the Accounts sidebar. If you don’t have the sidebar visible, though, you’d need to select each Account, then click the Schedule button at the bottom of the window to see if the Scheduled button at the top of the window has a badge. Once you commit or skip the pending Scheduled Entries the badge will disappear from the current Account. Once you’ve done that in all Accounts, the badge will disappear from the application’s Dock icon.

Even still, you'll want to try switching between each of your Accounts, going to the Schedule menu at the top of the screen and selecting the Scheduled Entries menu option. This should help you locate any scheduled entries you may have pending.

Supposing you have one or more Accounts that are hidden, that would explain why you're not seeing the badges elsewhere. You'll want to show these Accounts, first thing, by clicking where it says "Show hidden Accounts" at the bottom of the Accounts list. Provided that's involved, you might choose to disable Schedules for your hidden Accounts by double-clicking each and unchecking the box labeled "Enable Schedules"—this will help keep future notifications from appearing that are tricky to locate.
