Hi,

I have downloaded a copy of ABB, tried it and it worked fine. Then upgraded to iLife 09. Now, ABB does not build any audiobook anymore. I get the following error

Processing Audiobook
Writing Audiobook
Writing Part
Writing Chunk
Unable to write Chapter file
...
QuickTime errors: 0, -43

Anyone having the same problem?

Thanks
Mercator

Sorry that I can not help. I am hoping that someone will answer to let us know if your situation is unique. I have updated iLife, and would like to buy ABB, but am waiting.

Wow, this is a huge issue! I hope there is a reply right away. My order of iLife comes today or tomorrow. I can wait to install iLife, but I can't be living without ABB! It's critical for me to know wether there's a general problem with iLife 09 or some isolated quirks/conflicts that may occur, or something else. Knowing the answer to this could save me a lot of headache, and a lot of time.

I have received the following reply from Splasm:

Bob,

iLife doesn't actually come with a different version of iTunes, so there should be no change there when you install iLife. I personally have iLife 09 installed on my machine and have built books since with no issue.

I have not tried it yet myself, but will do so tomorrow.

There are no outstanding compatibility issues with iLife 09 and Audiobook Builder. We have machines running both without incident. iLife 09 itself does not contain an '09 version of iTunes and does not break compatibility. If you have issues or errors with Audiobook Builder, you can email us at support@splasm.com with a system profile report saved just after you duplicate your error, and we can look at your case individually and find out what's going on. Thanks for your patience, everyone!

Hmm... Do those machines run Quicktime 7.6? That's causing most of the problems at the moment and that got installed the same day I installed iLife...

Yep, we update regularly to try to avoid having updates sneak up on us and break things ;)

For what it's worth, running latest versions of iLife, iTunes, QT and no conversion problems. Love the product.

Mercator,

Can you email us directly at support@splasm.com with a system profiler report created just after you run into that error? We can't really begin to troubleshoot your specific case until we get more details on what is going on under the hood.

You can send us the report by going to the Apple in the upper left of your screen, and selecting 'About this Mac...'. From there you will see the about window with two buttons on it. Click on the 'More Info...' button at the bottom. This will open the System Profiler application. While running System Profiler, go to the File menu and select 'Save'. This will pop up a window where you can choose where you are going to save your report. Once this is done, you can find your report where you have saved it and drag it to a new email to us.
